What is hatha yoga? What to expect from your hatha yoga class?

The word Hatha is made up of two words ‘Ha’ and ‘Tha’, ‘ha’ means sun and ‘tha’ means moon and through hatha yoga practice we learn to balance solar and lunar energy of our body.

Hatha yoga is a practice that involves the coordination of physical postures i.e asanas with breath. Hatha yoga is a traditional yoga technique that prepares the body and mind for a higher level of yogic learning. In Hatha Yoga every movement of the body, every asana is coordinated with the breath, the mind is focused on every alignment.

Hatha Yoga balances opposite aspects of the body, Ida and pingala nadi, sun and moon, masculine and feminine energy, mind and body, astral and physical body.



What to expect from your Hatha Yoga class?

If you have enrolled yourself for Hatha Yoga class then you have enrolled yourself for a lifetime of peace and a balanced state of mind.

Any position that your body assumes is a posture or an asana, in this way, there can be an uncountable number of asanas. However, only 84 asanas are recognised by Hatha Yogis. Practice of these asanas helps to stretch, flex and strengthen the body. When practiced with coordination of breath and mindfulness, it helps to develop mind-body coordination and increases self-awareness.

Meditation and Pranayama are an important part of Hatha Yoga practice. Daily practice of Hatha Yoga can help you find balance of your mind and body, helps to manage mental and physical ailments. Reduces anxiety and depressive thoughts.
